RYA develops quality construction projects that minimize environmental impact

Throughout the project, RYA guides you in taking a broader view of what is essential and what is unnecessary in construction.

Learning to live with “only what is necessary” frees you from many constraints.

This reduces costs and increases happiness. Drawing on our expertise, we offer projects that are energy-efficient, environmentally sustainable, comfortable, and focused on your actual needs.

RYA designs comfortable projects

RYA is committed to a broad approach to bioclimatic design.

  • We ensure winter thermal comfort by focusing on the quality and quantity of insulation, healthy ventilation, and airtightness, while preventing cold radiation from the walls. These measures have a major impact on your energy consumption as well as CO2 emissions. RYA offers buildings with breathable walls that allow for natural humidity regulation.
  • We address summer thermal comfort by combating overheating, primarily through appropriate design (such as the building’s orientation, the placement and size of windows, and the use of suitable sunshades) by leaving accessible thermal masses to provide inertia and promote thermal lag, and through natural nighttime ventilation that cools the building.
  • We focus on spatial comfort by designing buildings tailored to your needs and requirements, while creating functional, well-lit spaces that foster human connections. The project must integrate into its surroundings to become an integral part of them and, if possible, enhance them in its own way.
  • We also prioritize quality of life by providing you with a healthy built environment. The elimination of materials containing pollutants such as formaldehyde and VOCs, and the use of natural, eco-friendly, and/or reused materials and finishes, adds definite and welcoming value to your daily life.
  • Attention is also paid to reducing noise pollution and ensuring high-quality acoustic comfort.

RYA designs sustainable and resilient projects

Choose techniques and materials built to last.

Building a new structure or renovating an existing one is a major responsibility. The longer a building’s lifespan, the lower its environmental impact. This is a key factor in determining its ecological footprint. Since the embodied energy required for the building’s construction, maintenance, and demolition is greater than the energy consumed during its occupancy, the choice of construction method and materials has a significant impact.

Designing a scalable project

RYA offers adaptable, flexible, and modular architecture to accommodate the evolving needs of you and/or future occupants, as well as the building’s own evolution.
Designing a reversible building allows us to view the materials used today not as waste but as ‘resources’ for tomorrow.

Striving for a rational project

Good design always aims to minimize requirements from the very start of the project. This involves compact volumes and selecting a coherent heated area to limit energy loss. The chosen construction system allows for limiting both the selection and the number of materials, as well as reducing and sorting waste, … The selection of equipment and its placement helps avoid over-engineering and the proliferation of technologies. These choices have a significant impact given the embodied energy in materials and technologies.

Commitment to the Project

The more the future occupant is committed to the architectural project, the better they are able to understand and maintain it. Whether regarding the choice of techniques, materials, or other aspects, a thorough understanding of the space ensures its long-term sustainability. Your involvement in the project is a key factor in its success.

RYA offers you its expertise

We are passionate about a number of key topics, and we are eager to share them with you:

  • the selection of materials, with a focus on natural and locally sourced options, and the opportunity to work with reused materials;
  • water management on the property, and more specifically the treatment of rainwater to prevent it from directly overloading the sewer system (cisterns, storm water basins, infiltration basins, swales, etc.) while making use of this resource on-site;
  • enhancing biodiversity: whether your property is a very dense urban lot or, conversely, a large tract of land;
  • the consistent use of renewable energy;
  • the appropriate selection of building techniques, favoring a low-tech approach;
  • anchoring your project in a circular economy approach;
  • integrating features related to sustainable mobility into projects;
  • conducting PEB regulatory studies and monitoring them throughout the process;
  • conducting an energy analysis and sizing your project to achieve more ambitious goals: low-energy, passive, zero-energy, or positive-energy standards, …

RYA is here to support you!

Carrying out an architectural project can be a lengthy and demanding process. There are numerous factors to consider in any project: technical, urban planning, financial, and environmental constraints, among others.

Achieving synergy is not easy and is undoubtedly a matter of debate.

Through a collaborative approach, guided by simplicity and enthusiasm, we invite you to explore every aspect of your project together to ensure a coherent result that is tailored to your situation. Throughout the process, we are by your side to support you and bring your projects to fruition.

Feel free to send us your projects via email. We will contact you to discuss your project and send you a clear and detailed cost estimate.
